Shirdi Sai Ashtotramala – Meaning,
Meditation and Miracle
Day - 57. “Om Shri Sai Durdharsha Kshobhyaya Namaha.”
Meaning:
Humble salutation to Him who embodies Victory. (Shirdi
Sai Trust).
Meditation:
Ram
Bhakth Hanuman when he was a child was very strong, playful and energetic. He
disturbed the Tapasyas Rishis by his playful pranks. The Rishis cursed Him to
forget his energy and he became very calm and passive losing his playful nature
and charm. Regretting their decision the
Rishis changed the curse that if someone reminds him of his strength he will
regain and make the impossible, possible. Later, when Bhagwan Ram wanted someone to
cross the ocean and go to Lanka to find Sita Jambawan reminded Hanuman of his
strength. On being reminded, Hanumanji
easily flew across the ocean to find Sita and come back.
Our
conscious Self is the Hanumanji within us. It has immense reach and power. It
needs some power to remind it of its great strength. It is the Self of Mahatma
Gandhi which brought Indians together to drive away the mighty empire of the
British. It is the “Self” of those brave men who made the supreme sacrifice in
the warfront, which makes nation bow down and honour them with Param Vir
Chakra. At this time the Self turns to Brahmam, God or Guru and identifies
itself with them who reminds the “Self” of its own immense power. Once reminded, at this moment of great
concentration and unity there seems nothing is impossible, no sacrifice is too
great to make. Any task or goal is achievable and easy, however difficult it
may be, whatever obstacles there may be. The name and form of Brahmam, God,
Guru is just sufficient to make the most impossible a possible one and it just
happens like a person just walking out of a car after it rolled down 200 ft
from the cliff. Just like some devotees feeling and wondering as to how their
dear ones came out of deathbed when medicines failed and only the Almighty’s
name was chanted as the last resort and the Leela or miracle happened. We just
say it is His Leela- the most difficult has been made easy to accomplish, the
impossible has become possible.
Once
Shama was bitten by a poisonous snake. His little finger was bitten and the
poison began to spread in the body. The pain was also severe and Shama thought
that, he would passaway soon. His friends wanted to take him to the God
Vithoba, where such cases were often sent but Shama ran to the Masjid to his Vithoba
(Sai Baba). When Baba saw him, He began to scold and abuse. He got enraged and
said,” Oh Vile Bhaturdha( Priest) do not climb up. Beware if you do so!” and
then, roared, “Go, Get away, Come down!” Seeing Baba thus, red with wrath,
Shama was greatly puzzled and disappointed. He thought that Masjid was his home
and Sai Baba his Sole Refuge, but if he was driven away like this, where should
he go?. He lost all hopes of life and kept silent. After a while, when Baba
became normal and cal, Shama went up and sat near him. Then Baba said to him,”
Don’t be afraid, don’t care a jot ( a small amount), the Merciful Fakir will save you, go and sit quiet at home,
don’t go out, believe in Me and remain hearless and have no anxiety”. Then he
was sent home. Immediately afterwards, Baba sent Tatya Patil and Kakasaheb
Dixit to him with instructions to the effect, that he should eat what he liked,
should move around in the house; but should in no case lie down and sleep.
Needless to say, that these instructions were acted upon and Shama got all
right in a short time. The only thing to be remembered in this connection is
this- the words of Baba (or the five syllable Mantra, viz. ‘Go, Get away, Come
down’) were not addressed to Shama, as it apparently looked, but they were a
direct order to the snake and its poison not to rise up and circulate through
Shama’s body. Like others well- versed in Mantrashastra, He had not to use any
incarnation, charged rice or water etc, His words only were most efficacious in
saving the life of Shama.( Shri Sai Satcharita-Ch: 23).
The faith in Him, the total devotion to Him makes the
miracles happen. The impossibilities are
converted into possibilities with ease.
He is Durdharshakshobhyaya.
