Day -52. “Om Shri Sai Suddha Satva Stithaya Namaha”

Shirdi Sai Ashtotramala – Meaning, Meditation and Miracle
Day -52. “Om Shri Sai Suddha Satva Stithaya Namaha”

Meaning:

Humble salutation to Him who is established in pure truth and goodness.

Reflection:

When water is cooled it becomes ice. When it is heated it becomes steam. When steam is cooled it becomes water. When ice is heated it becomes water. What is it by itself? Is it water or ice or steam?

Chemistry says all are Hydrogen and Oxygen. But chemistry also says Hydrogen can become Helium.

So what is Water? What is its True nature?

When we extend this analysis to whatever we see around us, we see that the true nature of all these creations or manifestations, whether they are groups of Galaxies and stars or whether they are the smaller and smaller parts of atoms, it is understood that they all originated from one single entity.  This is incredible. This entity defies all our known principles of science, but realised and experienced by our Rishis and they tried to explain by saying that ultimately it is that point where we originated and it is that point where we will end. Having found the truth which is inexplicable they all agreed it is the truth and it is to be understood and experienced, but cannot be explained. This is Brahmam, the absolute Truth. That which is the basis of all, manifesting itself in different forms, having no time, Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent.

The Brahmam is thus- Truth, and the one who realised it becomes the Truth itself as revealed “Aham Brahmasmi” .Brahmam, God, Guru who has indeed realised this truth becomes all powerful with the complete control over the manifestations, which are not different from  their true forms.

Once it so happened that, a Sadhak of Yoga came to Shirdi with Nanasaheb Chandorkar. He had studied all works on Yoga, including the Yoga –sutras of Pathanjali’s, but had no practical experience. He could not concentrate his mind and attain Samadhi even for a short time. He thought that if Sai Baba will be pleased with him, He will show him, the way to attain Samadhi for a longer time. With this object in view, he came to Shirdi and when he went to the Masjid he saw Sai Baba eating chapatti with onion. On seeing this, a thought crossed his mind: How can this man, eating stale bread with raw onion, solve my difficulties and help me? Sai Baba read his mind and said to Nanasaheb, “Oh Nana, he, who has the power to digest onion, should eat it and none else,” Hearing this remark, the yogi was wonder- struck and, he fell at Baba’s Feet with complete surrender. With pure and open mind, he related his difficulties and got   their solution from Baba. Thus, being satisfied and happy, he left Shirdi with Baba’s Udi and blessings.

Finding absolute truth – the realisation of Self is like trying to find the innermost layer of onion. It depends on how determined he is in finding it.

Just through the example of onion, He showed the way to find absolute Truth to an inquisitive Yogi and through the incident to the world. He is Suddha Satva Stithaya.
